we have learnt many drawing techniques in this project such as tonal shading, dotting, continuous line drawing and cross hatching throughout the topic we have practiced many of these skills. I was familiar with a couple of these skills such as cross hatching (using lines and intersecting/crossing them to make the picture darker), tonal shading (shading the object as if you could pick it up off of your page) and dotting (the use off dots and the amount of dots you place together makes the picture darker). however I did not know about continuous line drawing where you cannot lift your pencil from the paper I did not enjoy using this technique though. I have used colored pencil in a variety of ways, I have used them while doing tonal shading and cross hatching the most, I also have used them over different surfaces such as on top of paint, ink and different papers. have also used pens to cross hatch. the most difficult objet I have used is a compass to do the Sgraffito drawing this s oil pastel with blank paint mixed with washing up liquid on top then you use the compass to scratch some of the paint off of the board leaving the vibrant oil pastel colors exposed.
the four studies we have done were to use colored pencil on a variety of backgrounds such as on parcel paper and newspaper, on inks, on white emulsion and bleach on Brusho inks, I found that all of the techniques were effective however there were some that I thought looked better and also there are some I enjoyed a lot more than others. I enjoyed using the colored pencil on top of different papers and on top of the ink I thought it was very effective and looked really good as an end product.
I fund using other tools other than pencil to mark make with hard at first but after a while they grew on me and I've begun to enjoy using other tools to mark make with other than pencil.
my sgraffito drawing was effective as it was just a black sheet of paper however as it was scratched into I thought the right, vibrant colors contrasted really well and made the drawing stand out a lot.
I spent a lot of time on my homework's and I think the end product showed this, I particularly enjoyed the tonal shading drawing of the inside of a cupboard and I think that it is my best piece of homework.
I believe my observational studies have improved and I believe it is because of the new techniques and styles I have learnt also I have been able to work on proportion as I wasn't very good at this before. in some places I think I could have managed my time a little better as I think I spent too long on some pieces rather than on others but overall I think I have done well and I got everything finished so I cant have managed time that badly. I have tried to complete all drawings and mark makings to a good standard some better than others but overall I like the end product of most of my work. I don't really know many other techniques so I don't know if there are any others that I want to try however I am happy to learn and try things that are out of my comfort zone.
my overall thoughts on this project were that I have enjoyed this topic, I enjoy observational drawing so this was right up my street I believe this is why I'm happy with most of my works, next time I think I need to spend the same amount of time on all of my drawings not just concentrate on one and the others not so much.
